The new Kria System-on-Modules (SOM) by Xilinx offer new opportunities for AI and software developers with a full software stack and pre-configured applications. The Kria K26 SOM is specifically designed for Vision AI applications and is based on the Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC architecture, which includes a quad-core Arm Cortex A53 processor, more than 250K logic cells, and an H.264/265 video codec. The turnkey applications eliminate the entire FPGA hardware design process and only require software developers to integrate their custom AI models, application code, and modify the vision pipeline while maintaining their familiar design environments. At the same time, the first embedded app store for edge applications is launching, offering a selection of free apps for the Kria SOMs by Xilinx and its ecosystem partners. The Kria KV260 Vision AI Starter Kit is priced at 199US$, with commercial and industrial variants priced at 250US$ and 350US$, respectively.
